Re: Changing BC pill on break week
Hey daisydaisydaisy, If you're doctor has OK'd switching to a lower dose pill you should be all set: How Does Estrogen Dose Affect Protection Against Pregnancy If you'd feel more comfortable though, you can always add in a back-up method like condoms. Thank you, but it's more the sex I had a couple...

Re: Changing BC pill on break week
As long as you transition right from one pack to the next, taking the first pill from your new pack when you'd otherwise be taking the first pill from your current brand, you won't see any lapse in coverage and so don't need to worry about any sex you had beforehand. It sounds like you might want t...

Changing BC pill on break week
Hi, I'm about to change combination pills from a higher dose to a lower one (Loestrin 20). My doctor gave me confusing information about changing but my pamphlet says I can change anywhere on the pill cycle and still be protected. Does this include the break week? I'm currently on day three and woul...

Re: Missed pill/protection
Hi daisy, I am inclined to say that should not alter the pills effectiveness but the only way to know for sure is going to be based off any instructions or brand specific information for the kind of pills you are taking. While oral contraceptives can be susceptible to heat damage, that usually occu...

Re: Missed pill/protection
So, this is one of those places where we can't give a definite answer. In theory by following the directions for your pill you brought the effectiveness back up to normal. However, we usually advice people to back up with condoms for the remainder of that pill pack to be on the safe side, just in c...

Re: Missed pill/protection
Hi daisy, With the late pill, did you follow the directions for your specific brand of pill about how to make up a late or missed pill? And did you also follow the directions for how long to wait for it to get back to full effectiveness? Hi! It said to use condoms/backup protection for seven days. ...

Missed pill/protection
Hi, I missed a pill (it was over 12 hours late but under 24 hours), waited 7 days without having sex and had condomless sex a few hours after taking the 8th pill. Was I back to my normal protection status? As well as this, I had previously skipped my break week. Did the missed pill count as my break...

Re: Withdrawal Bleed Question
Thank you for confirming she is wrong? Can I just ask, if the withdrawal bleed is not a real period, how can it mean you're not pregnant? I'm just really curious as to how it all works!

Withdrawal Bleed Question
Hello! I recently went to my nurse to get more pills, and she told me that if you were pregnant on the pill, you would still get your withdrawal bleed. I had always thought that it was a sign you were most likely not pregnant. She didn't seem very sure of her answer, but I was wondering if she was r...

Perfect Pill User?
Hi! I've been reading up on how to ensure I get maximum protection when taking my birth control pill (micryogynon 30) and I'm slightly confused. Some websites say that you have to take the combination pill either an hour before or after your chosen time or else your protection drops to 91%. However,...
