Re: If you're emotionally struggling with current events, what works as self-care?
I write. A lot. I've found that writing really helps me. It's like my personal escape. Also, not reading the news helps. Also, listening to music.

Re: Someone Wants A Relationship With Me But I Don't Feel The Same Way
Thank you, Sam W. It was definitely very hard, so I'm glad I did it. Well, he was basically pressuring me to say that I loved him and would be his girlfriend and all when I didn't feel the same way, for starters. And making these love declarations like "I would jump in front of a bullet for you...

Someone Wants A Relationship With Me But I Don't Feel The Same Way
Hi. Figured that I'd post this here because I need some advice. There was someone that I just met at a party who seems to have developed feelings for me. (Keep in mind, we haven't known each other at all, and he said that he developed feelings for me.) It all sounds silly, but I told him that no, I'...

Re: Was I assaulted? What do I do now?
I decided to take a break, just for a weekend or so to get my head together. I also spoke with my counselor for school when she asked me about if anything personal was on my mind (as it was weighing me down a great deal) and she said that I had my choice to either break things off with the guy or co...

Re: Was I assaulted? What do I do now?
Oh yes, definitely!
And no, I haven't spoken to him in a while. I don't know when we're next meeting up, actually. Not the specific dates, at least. And I could definitely use some help in terms of how to tell him, I really could.

Re: Was I assaulted? What do I do now?
Thank you, Karyn. Thank you. And yeah, so far I've been doing some writing. That's helped a great deal. Writing's been one of my key self-care strategies. I'm also thinking of doing some reading before bed so I can ease into sleep better. And I may check out the Self Care A La Carte article again fo...

Re: Was I assaulted? What do I do now?
Thank you so much. Seriously. And yeah, not spending time alone with him is a good idea. Just in case. And talking about it here helps a great deal, thank you. It's just really painful because prior to this, he had no prior record of doing things like that, and he was just really sweet. I might have...

Was I assaulted? What do I do now?
So, this is pretty painful for me to admit, and it may be completely trivial, but a few days ago, I was with a guy friend watching movies in my bedroom when he trailed his hand over the top of the covers...pretty much near the outside of my genital area, through my clothes. I think it might have bee...

Re: Dealing With Anxiety and Memories While Living At Home
Thank you so much, Heather. Really. That really gave me a lot of hope. And yeah, I've been doing a lot of stuff on Philome.la just to make sure I'm taking care of myself -- I have executive function issues, so it's been helping me kind of keep everything working. (I know I can get so involved in cer...

Re: Dealing With Anxiety and Memories While Living At Home
Bit of an update on moving out: Haven't yet, not really, but my mom actually did suggest that if math class goes badly, she can transfer me to a different college altogether. (Mostly I'm trying to get through math so I can get my bachelor's. Which is difficult) I think math is the only thing keeping...

Re: Dealing With Anxiety and Memories While Living At Home
It does. And thank you so much. Really. :)That's definitely good to hear, it really is.
Right now, I'm mostly trying to take care of myself. And I'm trying to work on what I've got. I know I have a lot of low self-esteem, things like that. So working on that is a good start.

Re: Dealing With Anxiety and Memories While Living At Home
That definitely makes sense. And that's really neat, by the way! Seriously. All three jobs, really. I was actually thinking of working at a bookstore (outside campus). Maybe not at the cash register, but if there's any job available, I would honestly love to do it. And on the memories front...well, ...

Thanks! Checked my school's website, turns out they do have student jobs. Which is definitely a good start.

That's a good question. I may have to see if there is a student job center or a related page.

That's pretty neat! I'll have to check to see if they have something like that.
And yeah, that's true. I might have to scout out some part time jobs.

Re: Dealing With Anxiety and Memories While Living At Home
I'm currently enrolled in school. Before, I was trying to make school my top priority. Now I'm wondering if I should have put the job thing as a top priority too. I really am. And I unfortunately can't find jobs where I live that support people with more of a writing bent. At least, not the sort nea...

Re: Dealing With Anxiety and Memories While Living At Home
Well, I don't really have money, and I'm not really too great at reaching out to people when I need help. I know the basics of budgeting and self-care but could use improvement in all sorts of areas of independence. If that makes any sense, of course.

Re: Dealing With Anxiety and Memories While Living At Home
Thank you, on all counts. In all honesty, my memories are rather foggy and everything, so it's hard to explain them. And do you have any suggestions as to how I can work towards moving out?

Re: Dealing With Anxiety and Memories While Living At Home
Thankfully, no. I mean, it's over. The event's over. And yet I'm really scared. I guess part of it is really devastation, just because...thing about my mother and I is that we were pretty tight. She always stuck up for me when I was struggling with my learning disabilities, she encouraged my writing...

Dealing With Anxiety and Memories While Living At Home
Hi. I figured that I'd talk about this here because I need some advice and suggestions. Basically, I've gone to other sites about this in the past but I could definitely use some suggestions here. To make a long story short, I started having some memories back in 2015 that I can only describe as rep...

-MST3K. A lot of it.

-Movies.
-MyFutureSelf. It's a really cool private journaling site.
-Journaling in general.
-Reddit.
That's just to name a few. (Also, awesome thread! Seriously.)

Re: Confused About Sexuality
Thank you. Really. I definitely feel better about all this. As for forcing myself...I don't know, actually. I guess I'm wondering if I'm doing it because he's kind to me, or if there is something there. But I think I am feeling something. A bit of shyness here and there, and definitely not the unple...

Re: When Was the First Time You Saw Yourself in a Story
Probably the Exile from Knights of the Old Republic II. Quite literally, considering she's customizable in appearance (I chose the brown haired one with the ponytail), but that aside, teenage me thought it was so cool to just play as this kick-butt, strong, hopeful, eloquent, funny woman who actuall...
