Re: Unknown STD Help
Persistent pain with a possible infection is something that needs to be diagnosed by a healthcare provider, in person. It could be that you do have a UTI that just didn't respond to the antibiotics you were given. If your urine wasn't cultured to figure out what the specific bacteria was that was ca...

Re: Diarrhea on The Pill
Medically speaking, diarrhea is 3 or more loose stools per day over multiple days (basically, enough so that it's clear you're absorbing little or nothing in your digestive system); since that's not what you're describing I'd say there's nothing to be concerned about with your pill. Too, if your obg...
Re: Spotting
Spotting is a common side effect of hormonal birth control. You've said previously that you're up to date with your sexual healthcare, so you can assume this is due to the pill. If it keeps happening though and it bothers you, you can talk to your doctor about switching to a different brand of pill ...

Re: I don't like penetration
You're welcome. And yep, when we're comfortable with a partner and communicating with them, there will be lots of back and forth along the lines of "what do you want to try" "how does this feel" "what if we did this", before sex happens AND during. Those kinds of conver...

Re: I don't like penetration
There is definitely an idea that intercourse is expected, but it doesn't have to be, and ideally partners will talk about what each person likes or might like to try before any kind of sex happens (and during, if something feels particularly good or not great!). Something like our Sexual Inventory S...

Wanting to tell someone is understandable: sometimes it helps to vent! (Reviews can be good ways to vent too.) And, if there's anything else that occurs to you that we can help you with, just let us know.

Re: Searching for therapists in my area?
AASECT, the American Association of Sex Educators, Counsellors and Therapists is probably a good place to start looking. They have a directory of professionals on their website: https://www.aasect.org/referral-directory If you have a sexual health clinic in your area, they may also be able to give y...

Re: Terrified to go back to a doctor
I'm so sorry you had another bad experience: it sounds like the second doctor you saw was incredibly dismissive of your anxiety, which is absolutely not okay.

Re: masturbating on my period
Blood is easily washed off hands and fingers with soap and water; if getting blood on sheets or bedding is a concern, you can put down a towel beforehand and then just toss it in the wash. Per getting tampons, do you want to talk to your parents about trying them, or would you like to find a way to ...
Re: Pregnancy
When in your cycle did you start using birth control - the first day of your period or the first Sunday after your period started, or some other time? (Is it the pill, or another method?) And how long ago did you have sex?

Coconut oil should be just fine - it's a vegetable oil, and it's pretty commonly used as lube.

Re: Period while on birth control pills
All doses are equally effective, and there really isn't that much of a difference between a "low-dose" pill and one that isn't low-dose. These days, pretty much all pills are "low-dose" compared to the dosages that were used when the pill was first developed. (For what it's worth...

Re: Period while on birth control pills
Experiencing side effects doesn't indicate anything about your pill's effectiveness, to the best of my knowledge. As Sam said, if you take your pill correctly and consistently, you can assume it's working. If your gynecologist has indicated otherwise, then that's something to ask her about.

Re: Boyfriend depressed?
That feeling of finality with giving things back is totally understandable: sometimes it takes a while for us to really accept and be okay with the fact that a relationship has ended. If he hasn't asked for his things back, you could hang on to them for a few days until you're feeling a bit less raw...

Re: Where can I find casual sex partners?
I should have been clearer in my response, sorry about that! Alice is right: I wasn't talking about consent, but just about the fact that sex when one or both people are just looking to get off tends not to be all that much fun . As she said, partnered sex is a shared experience and in order to be e...

Re: Boyfriend depressed?
It's totally possible to love someone and at the same time know they're not a good fit for us, or that the relationship isn't a healthy one. Emotions aren't necessarily logical or sensible: maybe that's why they can be so difficult to deal with. What do you think would help you in terms of getting t...

Re: Boyfriend depressed?
I'm glad you have supportive friends: being able to lean on others can make a big difference. Are you able to spend some more time with them in the near future, or connect with them in some way to get some support? All of what you're describing feeling, for what it's worth, is totally normal: going ...

It's hard to deal with miscommunications in a long-distance relationship, and it sounds like this is really worrying you. Have you thought about telling her what you've just said here, explaining where your concerns are coming from?
