Re: Do I have a Yeast infection? If I do, what should I do?

Hi Maples, We can't diagnose it over the internet, so if you're concerned, your best bet is to check in with a healthcare provider. You can find our basic guide to discharge here: http://www.scarleteen.com/article/bodies/honorably_discharged_a_guide_to_vaginal_secretions And, if it turns out to be a...

Re: Spotting birth control pill

Yep, pill is the most likely explanation (I can't say it's the for sure one, since I'm not a doctor), so I would not stress out about it.

Re: 98% Effectiveness?

Hi xoxo127, So, the thing to understand about those rates is that they are figured over a year of use of that method, not just a single instance. So, in a year of use, there's a chance that either the condom is not used correctly and fails, or it was not used for all activities that posed a risk. If...

Re: My dad told me...I have to have an ARRANGED MARRIAGE?!

Hi Moonstone, I hope you won't mind my jumping in, as Heather is off today. That sounds like a really tough situation (and nothing makes school stress worse then feeling like the topics you're pursuing aren't even ones you enjoy all that much). As Heather mentioned earlier, in terms of getting throu...

Hi Avocadolime, Ooof, that is a lot of stuff for you to have had to deal with. I feel you on the understanding something intellectually while having a hard time getting yourself to believe it in your gut. And I think a big chunk of where this is coming from is a good impulse on your part to not do t...

Re: Spotting birth control pill

We can't say for certain, but the pill side effect is the most likely explanation. If you're concerned that you may be pregnant, then your best bet is to take a test to get your answer

Re: Spotting birth control pill

You're welcome :) That's up to you. If you're finding it annoying to have spotting, you may want to talk to your doc about switching (although there is no guarantee that the other pill would not have a similar effect.) Too, just to check, if you are or have been sexually active, are you up to date o...

Re: Spotting birth control pill

Hi Hearth,

Yes, spotting is a possible side effect of the pill. Like many side effects, it may come and go, so we can't really say when it might stop.

Re: Condom Failure Rate

It comes from the fact that, in one full year of use, there may be an instance where there was an issue with the condom and it failed (broke or similar) or was not used at all. There are lots of myths surrounding both the IUD and the implant, but if you're not comfortable with either of them, then y...

Re: Condom Failure Rate

Hi Rainbowhooves, Yes, as long as the condom did not break or come off, and was used for any contact that posed a risk, then you can assume it did its job. It can help to remember that those rates a figured per year, rather than per single instance, of use. You can read more about that here: Condoms...

How often do you feel desire?

When I was in middle school, I thought I was really weird because I felt sexual desire for people very frequently. In my head, having my brain go "dang, he's sexy" or daydreaming about sex in class felt like something only boys did. Girls daydreamed about dates and relationships (I assumed...

Hi katlyn,

We can't say for certain what the bleeding is, but if it's feeling like and looking like a period (keeping in mind that periods themselves will look and feel different from month to month), then it's most likely your period.

Re: Paranoid about Pregnancy

Hi sunflowerseeds. Yes, given that you used protection, your chances of pregnancy are very, very, very low. So now, as the article says you can either wait for your period or wait to test (and we've got info on how to test on the main site should you need it). That does make sense, and I will tell y...

Re: The First Time

Hi Zannahgirl, So, with intercourse, it will never be 100% risk free. But, using two methods correctly (or even one like the pill) takes that risk down to an extremely small level. It's ultimately up to you to decide if you're comfortable with that very small risk, or if even that might set off your...

As you read above, it's when the condom comes off inside the vagina completely that increases the risk. So, if that did not happen, you can assume you still had the protection provided by the condom.
