Re: feeling guilty..

Hi Kela,

Mo won't be back until later, but I'll leave a note that you've given us an update. Also, I want to give you giant kudos for taking the step of talking to your mom, and I'm glad that she reacted in a positive way to what you had to say :)

Re: When did your sex ed start?

Mine started slightly before I hit puberty (maybe age 9 or 10). My mom left the "It's Perfectly Normal" and "It's not the Stork" lying around where she knew I would find them. So I read them and enjoyed them. Nothing in them was a total shock, since my parents were the type to us...

Re: Out of ideas

There isn't a relationship between heaviness of flow and delayed periods that we know of. If she's going more than two months between periods from time to time, plus having instances of prolonged bleeding, she might want to check in with a healthcare provider just to see if anything is causing that ...

Re: Out of ideas

If it looks like a period, feels like a period, and comes at the same time someone is expecting their period? Then it's probably a period.

Re: One Night Stand & Flashbacks

Hi scaredandworried, First off, can yo help me understand what you found distressing about your ex falling asleep in your bed. Are you worried that he did something to you while you were asleep? I want to address your concerns about your morals. You get to have whatever standards for yourself that y...

Re: Please Help

Hi avi13,

We can't say for certain why your period arrived one day early, but having it come one day early, even if you're on BC pills, is nothing to worry about. It's not unusual for periods to vary in their arrival times.

Re: Out of ideas

Hi Scarletboy, There is no way for us to know why she is having cramps. It might be that these are a signal that her period is coming, or they might be a sign of something else. If they continue or get worse, and they're worrying her, it would be sound for her to see a doctor to figure out what's up...

Re: Weird Period

Hi watermeloncraze, So, this type of sex always poses some risk, and the only way to know for certain if you're pregnant is to take a test. But if you've been using depo and withdrawl, your chances of pregnancy are incredibly, incredibly low (you can read about the effectiveness level here: The Budd...

Re: Let's Introduce Ourselves!

Hi everyone, Sam here. 1) I first turned up on the message boards after becoming a volunteer. I found the site via tumblr, under someone's recommended resources. 2) I love talking to people about sex and all the stuff that surrounds it, so I love interacting with people on the boards. 3)Pineapple. A...

Re: The Room of Great Distraction

Kaizen, I totally do the puzzle game technique. I'll pair it with an audiobook or a podcast for extra soothing-ness. My techniques generally involve some kind of audio. Usually it's a podcast (like welcome to nightvale) or a video series that I find interesting that I'll put on while doing something...

What are/were your relationship models?

When you're imagining the best-case scenario for how a relationship ( with romantic partners, friends, etc) will go, who do you look to as your model? Are they real people? Fictional characters? Something else? How has the way you imagined your ideal relationships changed as you've aged? I'll go fir...

Re: My last period was at the end of April

Hi kyndy,

Periods can be late, and cycles can vary, for all sorts of reasons. You can read about those here: M.I.A or, Dude, Where's My Period?

However, if you've missed more than two periods, it's sound to check in with a healthcare provider to see what the cause might be.

Re: Sexuality and Experience

Hi Iusedtobe, First off, I don't think you will have been lying to the people you've come out to if you choose to do this. When you came out, you were defining your identity by all the information you had up to that point (e.g you primarily like women). Even if your feelings were to change, that doe...

Re: how can I talk to my mom about a pregnancy scare?

Hi Laura, So, it sounds like you've had a lot of outside confirmation that you're not pregnant, so the trouble for you now is convincing the anxious part of your brain to believe what you already know. I want to ask, do you tend to find yourself anxious about a lot of things in your life, or is it c...

Re: The Body Positivity Thread!

I'm really like my legs/butt. They've always been strong (dance training followed by having to bike everywhere in college), but lately I've been skating/doing squats and it's made me like them even more. I like the way they look, and I like feeling as though I have a strong foundation.

Re: how to talk to people/make friends?

In some ways, the smaller school might be helpful, if only because it might be harder to feel like you're lost in a sea of anonymity. Depending on where the school is located, you may also want to check out meet-ups or clubs that happen in the community, so you aren't limited to the student populati...

Re: how to talk to people/make friends?

Hi Xmetalgirl, Making/keeping friends can be tough, especially if you're someone who tends to be withdrawn or gets read as "weird" by other folks. But you're right that a new school is a great place to try out some new approaches. There are a few strategies you can try (if they aren't thin...
