Re: Birth control effective
Kaaya11, I think you were saying that you were continuing with taking the pill, switched brand, but you started taking a new pack two days late? Starting taking your new pack two days late means that you missed the first two pills of this pack. (I know you'll take them at the end of the pack, but in...

Re: Random questions
So many great thoughts here already! Per fighting/not fighting, I don't think there is one normal, nor one version of being healthy that's the same for everyone. People can also mean very different things by "fighting" - from very nasty and aggressive rowing to respectful disagreement - so...

Re: Daylight Savings and Missed Period
It IS normal to have occasional fluctuations, bleeds being a bit lighter, heavier, earlier, or later than usual, or even not show up at all, yep :) We can't know if this particular variation is connected to the hour shift or not. Most people won't experience any difference because it's a pretty smal...

Re: "Missed Pill"
That's not very helpful of the manual to not actually say what a missed pill is! For combined pills, a missed pill is a pill that's not been taken within 24 hours of when you were due to take it. A late pill is one that's taken more than 12 hours after you were due to take it, but within 24 hours. S...

I grew up in Britain, but deserted it for continental Europe a few years ago :) Between not watching any TV as a kid/teen, having been gone a few years and there being much more imported US TV than imported British TV, I'm definitely not a useful person for your question re. TV and race! Super-happy...

Just wanting to expand on what Karyn said: Tigger1, the post I think you might be referring to - the "Are you over 25? Please read this" post? - was written in response to a particular kind of over-25 who shows up here occasionally. The kind who seem to think that their age automatically m...

I LOVE THIS SHOW :) It's like a warm blanket, but with a smart and sharp worldview. And oh my gosh it's hilarious. Some of what happens is adorably over-the-top, but the characters are all so very real and complex. And a lesbian character with original storylines! I especially love the interaction b...

Re: Very Sexualy Confused Teenager
Oh, another point extra to what I said above. "Twink" is a term that's most commonly used in porn, and porn is notorious for showing only a very narrow range of types of people, so I wondered if a broader view might help you. As individuals, any of our attraction patterns can be more detai...

Re: Very Sexualy Confused Teenager
Like Sam and Snorkmaiden said, it's very common for the kinds of people we feel attracted to - especially by age - to shift over time. Too, everyone has a different route and different experiences, so you feeling different from your friends at the moment doesn't tell you anything about what things m...

Effectiveness rates for perfect use and for typical use are calculated for a whole year of use. That means that nobody, really, is going to be at the perfect use rate, because almost nobody manages to be so flawless as to do something completely correctly, laboratory-standard correctly, every day fo...

Re: Why are people so against a guy dating a girl taller than him?
I'm sorry to hear that that kind of response is familiar to you :( Anyone can have a really bad day and say something mean - although a recognition of that and an apology would still be the way to go! - but if it's a more regular or familiar thing, that begins to be a pattern, and is something diffe...

Re: Why are people so against a guy dating a girl taller than him?
That was the kind of inquiry to them I was wondering about, yes. Well, that kind of response certainly isn't very pleasant and would make most people not want to ask things again. I'm really sorry your dad spoke like that to you - it's generally okay to decline a request (except, not every single or...

Re: Why are people so against a guy dating a girl taller than him?
I'm sorry to hear that; that's a rough way to feel. In your other thread with Heather, you said your parents shout at each other, but they don't aim any at you. It'd certainly be natural to feel worried about being shouted at if shouting generally is a common thing in your house. (It'd also be ok if...

Re: Daylight Savings
Changing the time of your pill-taking (or, having the clocks change :) ) by one hour is absolutely fine. For a combined pill (progestin and estrogen), a pill isn't a late pill until it's 12 hours after you were supposed to take it. (Although, an erratic pill-taking schedule would be a bad idea, beca...

Re: What's your concept of your gender like?
I'd say I connect very strongly with the notion of not being born a woman, but becoming one. It would seem untrue to say I wasn't a woman, and it seems broadly true to say that I am , so that's that - but it's not the whole story of ever. It took me a really long time to have any frame to understand...

I'll throw in a few suggestions and you can see in what ways they do and don't meet your needs and situation, and we can all work from there, okay? I think it'd be a very good idea not to spend the whole day with them without breaks, so you'll probably want to build in a few planned release-valve op...

Re: pregnancy scare?
How long have you had this headache, and have you asked a healthcare provider about it? If you haven't yet, it'd be a good idea to do that - either the provider who prescribed you the pill, or if you can't see that person, let the person you do see know you're taking the pill. Per your pregnancy con...

A couple of days' difference either way is really nothing to even blink at, as far as periods/withdrawal bleeds are concerned. If your bleed on the pill has so far always come on the same day of your cycle, it's actually that that's highly unusual! Even the most regular of people will have some vari...

It's always okay to take whatever time you need to process information. It's often the case that we become more functional and more capable when we're feeling safer and less stressed. I'm glad that you were able to experience more independence. It's very understandable to feel angry or sad if we're ...

I'm really sorry your relative wasn't supportive and was so literally infantilising. That's so inappropriate! It's really wrong. Good gracious, you're a young adult, with a mind and opinions and skills of your own, not a baby. I know the system can be difficult to navigate, and I wish it were much e...

Hi Atonement, I'm glad your mom was alright when you told her, though of course I'm sorry you're feeling unsafe about her knowing. It depends how expired it was, really: they're guaranteed to give you excellent contraceptive protection up to the 3 year mark, but they'll continue releasing some hormone for a long time after that, so it's pretty likely that your implant removal is a factor here. That's good that you're up-to-date...
