Re: Is this possible?
Okay, so even though I bled a little on being pricked, the virus cannot survive on any infected object for 15 minutes, can it? Thank you! I haven't within my town, but the good news is, I got accepted to med school. That means that I'm gonna have to move out of town soon, and hence I'll have access ...

Is this possible?
Hi, I have a question regarding a possible method of HIV transmission. I know that HIV can be transmitted by sharing of infected needles or sharp objects, but is that possible in my case? I'm sorry if my worries sound stupid. I was playing cricket out in a park the other day. There's an old deserted...

Confirmation
Hi. Just wanted to confirm, does the pregnancy scare article include only pre-ejaculate fluids or ejaculate too? Like, in the sections regarding oral, dry, and manual sex, is the risk assessment including the possibility of ejaculate being present or only pre-ejaculate?

Re: Accuracy of Tri Dot?
Oh, thanks for that link! And no, we weren't anxious or worried about it. Its just that we usually hear only about the standard tests, so we were just wondering if the type of test you ask for makes any difference. Also, the lab that he went to often outsources (I dont know if that's the right term?...

Accuracy of Tri Dot?
I've never really heard of the 'Tri Dot' test for HIV testing, only ELISA and Western Blot- so I'm just curious about this. My partner recently got tested for STDs. He had an exposure a long time ago, about 1.5-2 years or so. He tested for VDRL, Herpes Simplex, and HIV antibodies. All of them came b...

Light period, cause for worry?
My menstrual period this month came about 6 days late. I've never had cycles exceeding 31 days before. Also, it just lasted for one single day and was so light it barely filled a sanitary pad. I always have had a period lasting 4-5 days and a heavy one. My last period(After a potential pregnancy sca...

Re: PMS symptoms getting too bad!
Okay, I'll make an appointment for the pain. One more thing, I had an incident of unprotected genital rubbing(No ejaculation, maybe just very minute precum, but my boyfriend had urinated) back in January, around the 3rd week. I got my regular, normal period after that on the 31st. The missing period...

I should also mention, I've been having a lot of antibiotics for various things for the past month. Do they affect your cycle?

Re: PMS symptoms getting too bad!
I do have moderate symptoms of PMS starting about a week before my period every month. But this time, they've started way too early. My cycle length has changed recently; I used to have a 27 day cycle every month till November, and the length has changed to 30-32 days since December. Could that caus...

PMS symptoms getting too bad!
I've been having excessive PMS symptoms for about 15 days now. My last menstrual period was on the 31st of January, and the one before that on the 2nd of January. As of today, I'm one day late. Since the 15th of February, I've been having excessive abdominal cramping, even vaginal cramping. My abdom...

Thank You, Scarleteen!
I just made this thread to thank all the volunteers on scarleteen. Seriously, I don't think there are enough superlative adjectives to appreciate the magnitude of the work that you people do, and I don't think we members thank you enough. I have spent a couple of months on here, and this is what I h...
PCOS/PCOD
Are there any ways to ensure that you do not get PCOD/PCOS? I know that it completely depends on biological control, but what are some lifestyle measures one can take so as to maintain regular and healthy cycles? I'm healthy, not overweight, but my BMI is dangerously close to 25 now. I've always bee...
Re: Questions
Okay. I'm asking cause I was told that the ultrasound revealed that my ovaries were bulky, and looked like those of someone who had PCOS. By day 7 of the cycle itself I had multiple huge follicles, and my endometrial thickness was already 7 mm. But, my cycles seem to be perfectly normal in terms of ...
Re: Questions
Okay, thanks! Also, can one have PCOS/PCOD and still have a normal cycle? Yes, this happened to me. I had a pregnancy scare a couple of months ago, but I got my regular periods and have had them for the past 3 months. However, for all these 3 months, I've been experiencing spotting on only and exact...
Questions
I read that mid cycle spotting, around day 14-15 in a 30 day cycle, is a sign that you're ovulating, and is also a sign that you're very fertile in general. Is this true, or is such a type of bleeding abnormal? Also, when can any vaginal bleeding be called abnormal? Like, how does it vary from a per...

Re: How much sleep do you get?
My sleep and wake cycle has been completely thrown off for the past 2-3 years. I got 8-10 hours of sleep as a kid, but recently I've been getting about 6 hours on an average. I rarely sleep that much at one go, though; I sleep for about 4 hours at night and 2 in the afternoon, as I can study better ...

Re: Scared of sex.
My partner is extremely supportive of my choices. He respects my boundaries. He isn't generally stressed about any sexual activities, but he's agreed to scale down on them till I'm comfortable. My pregnancy scare took up 2 months of my time, gave me nothing but a whole lot of worries and tension, im...

Re: Scared of sex.
No, I never really liked masturbation much. But I'm fine with doing it every once in a while. I'm not scared of it in the way I'm scared of anything sexual with a partner.

Scared of sex.
I've recently been extremely obsessive about and hence unable to participate in ANY sexual activity. Manual sex, Oral sex, heck, even Dry Humping- As you can see from my posts, after a huge pregnancy scare, I've not engaged in any of those. But what's bothering me is that I'm scared of them even now...

Re: Unexplained bleeding- Scared.
My STI tests are up to date. Also, given the normal duration of my cycle, is this just another early period or something else? What are some common causes of irregular bleeding?
