Re: Feeling weird about not having sex
Thank you both for your replies! Sam: I think the next time I go somewhere, I will make an effort to find things where other people are to socialize. I guess the only Idea I had before was going to bars or clubs, which isn't something I really enjoy, especially alone. But surely there are some other...

Re: Feeling weird about not having sex
Yeah, I've actually thought that while traveling might be a good idea for me. I feel like it would feel a lot less like having my life invaded than it would at home. And maybe if I used that to "break the ice", I'd feel less uncomfortable about it than when I'm at home. But I'm definitely ...

Re: Feeling weird about not having sex
No, I haven't read anything specifically about weight and sexuality. I've read Health at Every Size, and I've been going through a general self esteem workbook, but nothing specifically about sex. I think I'll look it up

Re: Feeling weird about not having sex
Sorry, I didn't really condense my thoughts too well! Here's a few more specific questions. This one may be kind of self defeating, but I have a strong desire to know exactly how abnormal the I live my life (ie, no sexual interaction or attempt to seek it out) is. Does any significant percentage of ...

Re: Finding other platforms like Scarleteen
I have a pretty big dislike for using facebook for anything besides posting occasional pictures and keeping up with family. Everything seems to get so heated there. Not to mention, you're supposed to use your real name. But, it's ok about the family dynamics. I do have a therapist, and that is somet...

Feeling weird about not having sex
So, I decided to post because of some uncomfortable thoughts I've been having regarding my lack of sexuality at the time. I was talking to some girls at work the other day. It's pretty common knowledge at work that I do not date and don't really want to. And I guess that idea is kind of fascinating ...

Given that there was over a week between bleeding, I would count the 17th as day 1, and put it in tomorrow.

Re: Finding other platforms like Scarleteen
Really, I do feel like you guys (especially the people who have been here longer and thus, aged along with me) totally meet the requirements I'm looking for. I know you would be just as good at supporting me as you always have been, but I don't feel like a lot of my topics would be relevant or helpf...

Finding other platforms like Scarleteen
I've been a member of the Scarleteen community for about a decade at this point. It has been a critical part of helping me through difficult times, and for my own personal growth. However, I will be turning 28 soon. I've noticed ever since I graduated college, I have restrained myself from coming to...

Re: Why am I being so weird about Birth Control?
No, I think you're misunderstanding my nuvaring routine :) When I leave the ring in for 4 weeks, I do not take an inactive week. In those cases, I switch right to a new ring at the end of the 4th week, skipping the withdrawal bleed altogether. In months that I do have a withdrawal bleed (usually eve...

Re: Why am I being so weird about Birth Control?
One thing I should mention: The doctor that advised against how I was using the Nuvaring and discouraged the Implant is not my current gynecologist. Honestly, I only saw her the one time because I didn't really like her. Which, I guess should say something, but she kind of planted the seed for fear ...

Why am I being so weird about Birth Control?
So, I have been using the Nuvaring since January 2013, when it was first covered by my insurance. Throughout my time on it, it had been GREAT. Periods were reduced to basically spotting that didn't negatively impact my life at all. However, one year ago I went to a gynecologist who informed me that ...

Re: IUD and the pill?
I thought I'd chime in, as that is sort of what I am currently doing. I had been using the Nuvaring for several years, and loved how my cycle was with it. But I had had some inconsistencies with changing it when I was supposed to, and wouldn't be getting a level of pregnancy prevention I was comfort...

Making the most of Therapy
So, I've been in and out of therapy for the last 6 years, currently being in the "in" status. One wall that I repeatedly seep to hit with therapy is I get to a point where I'm not really thinking about sessions in between, and then when I go to sessions it just ends up with me rehashing ol...

- Day shift!- I've been working nights since May. Being a morning person, this has been difficult for me. But, in one week I get to rejoin the living! -The annual thanksgiving that I have with some of my closest friends who I don't get to see very often. -The christmas season- I was too busy to real...

Re: Heteronormativity?
You know, I've always felt the same way, but that was never something I was insecure about. If anything, I was slightly snobbish about it and considered myself a little bit above the masses that were attracted to whatever they were old to like. I was never really into celebrities. My feelings were a...

Re: Handling Friend's Mental Health Crises
Thanks, Jacob, I felt better after reading your response. Thankfully, she never did ask me to come over. I think she dropped a couple hints hoping I would offer, but I just suggested a few coping strategies. So, I definitely do think I need to have a conversation with her. But my question is, do you...

Handling Friend's Mental Health Crises
So, I moved to a new neighborhood a few months ago. One of my old friends from college lives in the area. Before I moved, we would meet up maybe once a year and text occasionally. However, now that we live closer by one another, we have been hanging out more regularly. The thing is, my friend has ve...

In need of strange tech support help
So, I have a weird dilemma that i'm probably going to need administrative help with. I need to log onto the old archive boards. I keep requesting a new password to be sent to my email, but I haven't gotten an email yet. The reason I need to do this is my old posts on the board. I have come to regard...

Re: Making a Birth Control Decision
Honestly, regular periods aren't a big deal to me. The reason I'm happy with the way things are now is because I have almost no period. I wouldn't mind it going away altogether, but I just wouldn't want it to come back heavy/painful like it was before birth control.

Making a Birth Control Decision
I’ve been having a debate with myself for the last few days, and I thought I’d get you all to weigh in. I have had my nuvaring for 4 years now, ever since American insurance companies started covering it fully. While I haven’t been sexually active in that time, it has done wonders for my menstrual c...

I'm sure you'll get more advice, but I thought I'd chime in with what I know. First, use the smallest possible one for your flow level. I don't know if they still make them, but I have seen extra small one designed for younger people. Second, using a bit of lubricant is a good idea. In my experience...

Re: Having a very hard week...
I have thought about taking some art classes, maybe at a local community college. The problem is that my schedule is so irregular, I really can't plan for something to happen on a certain day every week. And I have no idea what kind of flexibility I will have on the new unit. I guess you could say I...

Actually, I might just leave it here. All the stories are connected anyway. Here it is: I’m starting to feel a little bad for constantly posting on the same topic, but sometimes I really feel like you guys are the only ones that understand. So, this is where we left off: http://www.scarleteen.com/bb...
