Re: Condom confusion

When you say it's not really a risk, could you please explain why? Also is there any way for me to please edit or delete this post? Feeling a bit uncomfortable about it being public in hindsight... thanks

Re: Condom confusion

Hi Sam. I do usually ask him to help but even then I struggle to roll it down without my hand slipping. 🤦🏻‍♀️ However if you’re saying that wouldn’t be a risk then that’s good to know. Thanks

Condom confusion

Hi, I wanted to please ask something about putting on condoms (for someone who’s uncircumcised). When putting the condom on you have to pull back the foreskin and pinch the tip of the condom, which pretty much seems to need three hands. In particular, I’m finding it’s difficult to roll the condom pa...

Re: Depo Shot

Thanks Heather. I spoke to my nurse yesterday and she said it’s fine to get it anytime as long as I give it 7 days to work, so that’s fine. Sorry if I’m getting too much into the details, but my only point of confusion is that depo can completely stop periods. So if I have already ovulated when I ge...

Re: Depo Shot

Thanks! So does that mean if I had already ovulated the month I got the shot then it would stop ovulation the month after? And that basically it's the same level of protection whether I get the shot during my period vs mid-cycle (although would of course just need to use extra back up for 7 days if ...

Re: Depo Shot

Thanks Sam! Do you know if the level of protection is still the same if it’s done mid-cycle? And if it will still prevent ovulation? It’s quite difficult to book an appointment in advance with unpredictable period! Thanks :)

Depo Shot

Hi, I’ve booked in to get the depo shot/ injection soon. My doctor said you can get the shot at any time in your menstrual cycle. But I’m reading online you’re meant to get it done during the first 5 days of your period? If I get the shot midway through my cycle, how does the shot stop me from ovula...

Sex on period?

Hi, I’m on the Nexplanon implant, which has recently been making me bleed pretty much constantly! Presumably it’s okay to have sex whilst on my period and this won’t effect my contraception? Thanks

Re: Touching my Nexplanon?

Thanks I did have a question actually, but not sure if you’d know the answer as my local pharmacist didn’t. I read online that flaxseed can interfere with birth control . I just wondered whether that includes nexplanon and whether eating a spoonful per day would be an issue. Thanks

Re: Touching my Nexplanon?

Hi sorry for my late response. I am starting CBT in the next couple of weeks, as I am still having trouble leaving my implant alone for instance I felt it like 20 times in the past day and I still worry touching it too much will cause it to not work :/ thanks

Evening primrose oil with Nexplanon?

Hi there, I’ve been having a bit of a bad time with Nexplanon as I’ve been bleeding constantly for four months now (alongside regular period pain like cramping- not sure how normal the cramping is but I’m assuming it’s to do with my implant?). I read online that some people had found some success wi...

Re: Touching my Nexplanon?

Thanks I will deffo call the clinic on Monday. In the meantime though should I be worried my implant might not be working? Or that I really may have damaged it from touching it? I’m just hoping the change in bleeding pattern is a coincidence :/ I also now have period cramps :/

Re: Touching my Nexplanon?

Not really but I am seeking out CBT.😕 I’ve been spotting pretty much constantly since May, in addition to having two 7-day periods a month . However, I’m now on nearly day 12 of a heavier period than usual. They don’t normally last this long and aren’t usually this heavy. Could this be directly link...

Re: Touching my Nexplanon?

Thanks Emily. She wasn't concerned about the indent, but she did tell me to stop touching it, which I've failed to do :/. I think my compulsion to feel the implant is fuelled by anxiety and a bit of OCD. I just really feel like I need to check on it to make sure I won't get pregnant, and then when I...

Re: Touching my Nexplanon?

Thanks. So no matter how often you touch it, that still wouldn’t stop it from working or damage it? I feel like I’ve probably felt it hundreds of times by now (and probably 20 times today alone!), which I feel quite bad about, but I’m going to make a concerted effort not to touch it in future. This ...

Thank you Sam. That’s reassuring because I’ve touched it a lot of times! Do you know why it’s advisable to try not to touch it? Thanks

Touching my Nexplanon?

Hi there, I’ve had my Nexplanon implant since April, and as I’m quite an anxious person, I’ve been finding it very difficult not to touch the implant. I just keep gently running my finger along it to feel it to feel the texture of the rod (especially as there’s a small sort of bump / lump/ indent ab...

Re: Knocked nexplanon?

Thanks. I’ve been bleeding none stop for eight days so far and am hoping that will settle! Would somebody grabbing your arm be likely to damage the nexplanon? My mum grabbed my arm to pull me away because I was about to lean on a freshly painted wall and it’s got me a bit worried if that would damag...

Re: Knocked nexplanon?

Hi Carly, Thanks. I just scratched it I think the once, which caused it to hurt a little that day, but now feels fine. I had it put in a month ago now, and I just started my period. My period came right on time and just seems to be a normal, fairly heavy period. Would you expect to continue to have ...

Knocked nexplanon?

Hey, I got my arm implant about 3 weeks ago now and I mostly forget it’s there now. However, this morning I absent mindedly was itching my arm when I woke up and accidentally scratched directly where my implant is. It freaked me out a bit but I’m just wondering whether knocking it/ scratching it by ...

Re: Nexplanon Arm Implant

Yes that does make sense. So due to that basically this month the ovulation test may not work but the implant would still be working, but next month the ovulation test idea should work? Thanks so much. Great work you guys do!

Re: Nexplanon Arm Implant

Sorry! (argh, I'm British- can't help it haha!!) What I mean is, I have now had the implant in since last Monday, so it's now been more than seven days. But I was meant to ovulate roughly on Saturday (which would have been only 5 days after getting the implant inserted), so if the implant takes 7 da...

Re: Nexplanon Arm Implant

Sorry. Just one more question about the ovulation tests idea: I had the implant put in a few days before I was due to ovulate, so would the implant have actually fully stopped ovulation this month? Thanks
