Re: Depo Provera and antibiotics?
Hi. Did speak to Doctor . They said it ‘shouldn’t’ affect it. I don’t think depo injection has many drug interactions but all confusing as patient leaflet for antibiotics says can effect contraceptive pill.

Re: Depo Provera and antibiotics?
Well your article does mention it in the sense that it’s a broad spectrum antibiotic. The line that concerned me was ‘much of this research has included sample sizes considered too small to detect a rare interaction that may occur in less than 1% of users’. Thanks

Depo Provera and antibiotics?
Hello,
I have been prescribed antibiotics by my doctor for an ear infection (flucloxaxillin). I’m confused as to whether antibiotics can affect birth control or not. I’m on the contraceptive injection. Do I need to use extra protection? Thanks

Re: How often should you test?
Interesting. I just figured doing a test was sensible considering no birth control method is 100%.

How often should you test?
Hello,
Looking for some advice please. I use the Depo Provera injection as my sole method of contraception (long term partner). I don’t get periods. So I’m wondering how often is reasonable to take a pregnancy test? I have anxiety so not sure what’s too much . Thanks

Medication and contraception?
Hello, my doctor recently prescribed me pantoprazole (a proton pump inhibitor medication for acid reflux). I noticed on the leaflet it says it can interfere with Ella one emergency contraception. I was just wondering, why does it specifically affect Ella one but not the combined pill etc? I don’t wa...

Re: Change in bleeding pattern
Hey, so I normally spot a few times a week on the injection. But I’ve had no spotting or bleeding or anything for the pat three weeks now. Does this sound normal and should I be concerned? Thanks

Re: Change in bleeding pattern
Hi, thanks. It’s definitely a change for me because usually the bleeding always stops the week after my injection, and then slowly starts up again around week 4. I’m not worried about the bleeding being anything bad health wise. I’m just worried about it being a sign this injection hasn’t worked for...

Change in bleeding pattern
Hello, I’ve been on depo provera injection for almost two years. Throughout this time I have random spotting and bleeding. But every single time I have my top up injection, the bleeding stops or significantly reduces for two weeks, and then properly starts up again on week 4. I am concerned because ...

Re: Depo timing
Thanks! Could you please explain why that is? Does the new injection not take 7 days to get in your system, like the first one did?
So if you hit the 12th week your old one will stop and then the new one won’t have kicked in yet. Thanks

Depo timing
Hey, am I right in thinking that as long as I get my repeat depo injection up to 12 weeks after my last one, then I’m protected straight away? When I had my first depo, I was told I needed to wait or use condoms for the first 7 days as that’s how long it takes to get in your system. So I don’t reall...

Re: Depo provera effectiveness
Hi, I fell over yesterday and hit my injection site really hard on the corner of a hard, wooden bench. It’s really sore today and bruised. I’m worried that this may hve affected my depo injection, as I hit it so hard directly where I had my injection done a few weeks ago. Thanks

Re: Depo provera effectiveness
Ah so like before its hanging out before it fully settles into the muscle? Okay that makes sense. How do you know all this stuff? Thanks so much!

Re: Depo provera effectiveness
Thanks. My understanding is it’s slowly released from the muscle (which is like a ‘depot’) into the blood stream until the store of medication is used up across 12 weeks. I’m pretty sure that’s the case but that’s why I can’t figure out why a massage wouldn’t be a problem for the whole 12 weeks. Tha...

Re: Depo provera effectiveness
Hi Sam, that’s where I’ve been quite confused because my doctor told me the injection does sit in the one muscle for the whole time. The doctor sounded very confident that it stays in the muscle the whole time, but they also seemed to think the massaging didn’t matter after the first day. So the two...

Re: Depo provera effectiveness
Okay that makes sense. I guess I was just confused about the fact it sits in the muscle for the whole 12 weeks so didn’t see what difference on the day vs a few days later would make, seeing as it’s sitting there the whole time. Do you mean it disperses into the muscle so like it’s still in the musc...

Re: Depo provera effectiveness
Thanks! I guess what I’m confused about is why it matters immediately after injection but not a few days later? Because my understanding is the injection stays in your muscle the whole 12 weeks. So if you were to properly massage the area a few days later would that still not matter? Thanks

Re: Depo provera effectiveness
Hi, recently had another depo shot, 5-6 days ago. This time I’ve done really well at keeping my anxiety under control. However something has just happened that’s made me spiral again and I feel I could do with some help with please re-establishing the facts. I just was drying after a shower, wasn’t ...

Sexual issues on Zoloft
Erm so kind of awkward but since I’ve been on Zoloft I’ve been struggling to… get past the finished line… sexually speaking. This has never been an issue for me and I’ve only been on the medication a couple weeks. It’s done wonders for my anxiety , but the sexual issues are a bit of a concern… is th...

Re: Depo provera effectiveness
Oh, so tiny holes aren’t really a thing? I normally look quite closely and inspect condom after but is this not necessary? Do I need to check in case anything leaked out the base or is this again not possible? Thanks
