Ovulation bleeding

Unread post by Mediapd »

Hey guys, girlfriend bled for the first time while ovulating, (or probably just first time she noticed) we had protected sex last month and she had a period since, so no risk of pregnancy. Her period is pretty much accurate w the apps and she is supposed to ovulate tomorrow, should I be worried about some STD testing or something of the sort? We only see each other and we are our first everyone so I’m not incredibly worried about that. Or is there maybe something else wrong

Hi, Mediapd.

Light bleeding / spotting is common during ovulation, as there is a change in hormonal levels during that time, which can cause the lining of the uterus to shed - resulting in spotting.
There's no reason to be concerned as far as her health, as long as there's no abnormal pain along with it and it's just some light bleeding that goes away within about 2 days.
STIs don't really cause bleeding, so that's also not something to be specifically worried about because of this.
