Constipation on Birth Control

*May be a bit graphic.* I am so frustrated! Can birth control cause constipation? The problem is I go everyday but it's very little and the stool size is different. It takes a while for me to go and I have to push quite a little. I noticed it does subside on my placebo week and on my period then comes back on my active pills. My doctor said I should not go off the pill just because of constipation. Now I made a mistake and searched on the internet and now I'm freaking myself out that I have colon cancer. Ugh someone help.

Hi Kaayaj,

We can't say for certain if the pill is the cause of this, though it sounds like your doctor is not recommending you go off it. Did they offer other solutions to your issue?
And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow/with smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go/turn to and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain/and like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.
