Porn and Masturbation

Hello!

I’m wondering about how much porn consumption is too much, especially when masturbating, as I’ve heard it can have effects on arousal and things? I often use porn while masturbating, but I try and not use it too often.

Hi Terence,

When we're talking about the potential issues with porn use, or with masturbation, frequency in and of itself isn't usually the source of them. If someone consumes sexual media often, or masturbates often, that isn't inherently a problem. It can become a problem if they're doing those things so much that it's interfering with their ability to do the other things that are important to them, like go to school or work, or maintain their relationships. Too, if someone notices they're masturbating or consuming sexual media even when they don't want to but feel like it's a need they have to obey, that can indicate some compulsion that needs to be addressed. Does that make sense?
