Aw, I know it can be so scary. You know, I also know that TikTok has a unique way of showing you more of the things that make you anxious. I swear, sometimes I have a worry about one thing or another, and then my TikTok algorithm just shows me more of that stuff. In those situations, I usually just delete my TikTok app for a bit. I believe there’s also a way to limit what you see using “keyword limitations” under settings (you could limit the word “pregnancy” or “pregnant”).

Social media in general tends to show us things that are “rare,” “insane,” or even fantastical. So I am not surprised that there’s a lot of content about a “pregnancy horror story” like that. Know what I mean? What’s much more likely is that they did not actually get a period, it could’ve been spotting.

I also think what’s more helpful in circumstances like this is less of “is my body showing pregnancy signs” and more of “wait… did this activity even pose a risk to pregnancy?” Because at the end of the day, the activity you did really doesn’t cause pregnancy. <3

Hello! I took a pregnancy test today and i accidentally peed abit on the control window and quickly peed on the absorbant strip and it turned out negative. Do i take another test or is the one I used fine?

It should be fine, but tests all come with their own directions, and if it is NOT fine, it will usually say that in the directions. Do you still have them, or, if not, do you know the brand name of the test you took so you can look the directions up online?

Well, most tests are clear that 10 hours later, what you see on the test should not be considered at all: you really need to only look in the short -- usually just an hour or two -- window of time a test tells you to look in.

You got a negative result. You can either accept that, or, if you don't feel confident in it, take it again. But I do want to remind you that this is all about something we've been clear wasn't likely to pose a risk in the first place, but which you have struggled to let go of anxiety around. So, it may also be that even if you take ten tests, you are going to keep finding issues with them or lack of confidence in their results, because anxiety is not usually about a lack of facts, but instead about fears, and fears don't usually respond to facts, as you've seen throughout the whole of our exchanges here.

It might be that the answer to this for you is, in fact, taking NO more tests, stopping looking up anything online about any of this, just letting yourself feel and express all of your feelings around this, then focusing on other things entirely, and then only making sexual choices in the future you are really certain you feel ready for and really good about.

For more on anxiety and how to manage it, I'd take a look at these two pages on the site:
