Quick Question

Unread post by KJK2 »

I have read on here many times between the late vs missed pill, so I know I took my pill late. However, I have gotten mixed answers on here when looking at the forums on here. I take Lo Loestrin Fe and during my first week I took my second pill 7 hours late. I took it as soon as I saw I didn't take it. I went to my pill information, which was no help saying if I missed one blue (active) pill to keep taking them as normal and no back up was needed. My question is because it was the second pill in the pack (but I only took it 7 hours late) is my effectiveness greatly compromised?

Hi KJK2,

For pills, you have a 12 hour grace period before a pill is even considered late, so this should not affect how effective you pill is.

Even if it's the second pill in the first week?

Yep, the pills placement in the pack does not matter.

Would I need to have a 7 day back up because it's the first week, since my pill info is very broad on the issue of missing a pill. Also would a pregnancy test 15 days after test have accurate results?

We generally advise using condoms as back-up no matter how far you are into your pill pack, as it offers more protection overall. So, if using one makes you feel more comfortable, then that's absolutely something you can do.

As for the pregnancy test, it's best to go by the instructions on the particular brand of test you bought as to when and how to test.

It was the first response early result but two weeks would happen before my period so I took the test. I just wanna make sure I can trust the results

As long as you took it according to the directions, you can trust the results. You can read more about that here:

So to clarify as long as I followed the instructions there would have been enough time for my levels to rise and get an accurate reading on the test.?

Yes - the instructions that come with any particular brand of test are going to be the best authority on when that test will be accurate.
