Hey lycheefan -- Good question! What is considered "late" can be a little different per person because how long a menstrual cycle is can differ. Generally speaking, a period that hasn't come at least five days after it was expected is considered late. A missed period is a period that doesn't come at all; in a medical context a missed period means "no menstrual flow for more than 6 weeks."
And yes, you're allowed to use our forum to rant about stuff that's bothering you about periods and pregnancy. We'll do our best to support you and answer any questions you have about these and other related topics. One thing we will not allow to be posted though are threads or posts that are about about pregnancy fear or anxiety with people who are not pregnant or who are not or have not been otherwise directly involved with an actual pregnancy. You can read more about that policy
here.

okay!! perfect. my period has just been a few days late, and it's usually on time every month. its been 3 days late so far, and i took a pregnancy test yesterday- which was a negative. i know that i'm more than likely not pregnant and i'll be talking to a gynecologist later this week (hopefully). this stems the question, what can cause a period to be late? i've been pretty stressed these past few weeks so i'm assuming that sort of factors into it
thank you

Stress does factor into it, absolutely. Have a look at this article, it may help:

If there isn't ovulation, progesterone doesn't increase, which means it would be unlikely to experience PMS symptoms. If your period is only a few days late and you are experiencing PMS symptoms, it's more likely a sign that it may start soon rather than PMS symptoms without ovulation.
