Hay Sam it is me your old pall Oynx
Sorry for not being online lately but as you know it is a little hard...
I am currently messaging you In secret to ask a big favour.
You know how you said get closer to the queer community Before??
Well I am trying to set up an acoumt on a dating site for queer people..
Who knows, maybe find love/ Get a bf
Well anyways I am rambling (sorry)
So I wanted to ask if you could help me get a phone number for it??
Instead of needing to come out to my parents and asking them for help with it.
I have still not gotten my phone back so I can't use that if you were wondering
Well anyhow, enough about me, how have you been??
I will try getting on to to talk some time soon, maybe I use a library computer or something
Also has that organization messaged you back yet??

Your friend, Oynx 😁😁❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍

Hi Onyx,

It's good to hear from you again! And I'm doing well.

I'm glad to hear you're looking for ways to meet other queer people. Just to check, is the site you have in mind aimed at teenagers? Or is it aimed at adults?

With the phone, your best bet is still going to be getting a burner phone like we've talked about in the past. Depending on how much you're able to still contact you aunt and cousin, I would make them your starting points for help in getting one (we can certainly help you figure out how to have that conversation with them). Getting on a library computer if you can is a good call, because that protects your privacy in some big ways.

I haven't heard back from five/fourteen yet, but I will follow up with them to see if I can get a response by poking them
And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow/with smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go/turn to and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain/and like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.

Hi,Sam W
I am trying to find teen age oriented sites. The one problem is they all require a phone number.
Also I am close to earning my phone back. I was allowed to use it yesterday aswell.
I also had applied for a job at Wonderland and got 2 jobs!
I would really apreciate you reaching out again.
Talk soon

Hey, Onyx. Sam is off for the week, but I'm around and glad to talk with you.

I'm so glad to hear about you getting jobs! I think that can start to give you some more independence and time out of your house, both of which should be great for you.

Given the situation you're living in, particularly given how virulently anti-queer your adoptive family is, and the fact that there aren't dating apps built for young people that are really safe (that would do things like protect you from older adults pretending to be young people, for example, or other predatory folks), IMHO, I'm not sure dating would be a great idea for you just yet. But I do think that some more platonic queer community -- which could also help you date when you are in a safer setting for it -- would be a great idea, so if you want, we can brainstorm about how you might be able to find that?

Ok, Yes that would be really helpful and thank you for all the help!
I also think this will help with my independence! I am starting training Thursday and then starting working Friday. Then we are leaving on the Monday for Montreal/Vermont.
Things at home have also gotten a little bit better. But I got in trouble for messaging my cousin on my phone telling her about the job When apparently "I was only allowed to use it to message them??"
But the only consequence was the day they were planing on giving it back it is moved to 1 day later.
Not bad

Hi Onyx,

It's good to hear from you, and I'm glad you found a job! I haven't heard back from them yet, but I'm not giving up yet; sometimes it takes a few tries to find the communication channel that people are actually checking.

Having periods where they're very nice and sweet is often part of the cycle of abuse (you'll sometimes hear people call it the "honeymoon" part of the cycle). So, while it's good for your current safety, and hopefully your ability to do things like hold that job or maybe get some communication channels back, it's also important to remember that, unfortunately, this likely isn't a sign they've changed their ways in the long run and continue making your plans accordingly.
