First Pap Smear--Arousal??

Hi, I have my first pap smear next Tuesday, and I'm really nervous for it. I read this site's explanation of what a pap smear is and what happens, and that helped a lot. However, my main concern now is, what if I get aroused somehow during the exam? I would be so embarrassed. Thank you in advance for any responses this gets.

Hi there, welcome to Scarleteen!

I'm glad our article on first pap smears was helpful to read! Hopefully it will go smoothly for you. :) These exams are very clinical in tone, so it's very likely that you won't experience any arousal, but if you do find yourself feeling aroused, that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. Your doctor likely won't notice, and if they do they're trained to act professionally and ignore it.
