hi!

i think in pretty close to getting my period and i haven’t masturbated in a bit so i feel like this would be a good time to ask this: can i/how can i masturbate during my period? i mainly wanna know how to avoid mess because thats my biggest concern.

i know i could use tampons which would probably reduce mess a bit but also i dont use tampons mainly due to anxiety surrounding them.

so yeah, any advice on how to stay atleast mostly mess free?

You can absolutely masturbate during your period! As you've pointed out, the main concern is really mess control. If you're using your hands at all, you'll want to have an easy way to clean them off right afterwards, like hand wipes (if you'd rather avoid a dash to the nearest bathroom). You could also opt to put a towel down to catch any flow, and some people who wear pads choose to keep it--and their underwear--on during masturbation to help contain the menstrual flow and then change it right after (this generally only works if the pad isn't that full in the first place).

ohh ok ty! one concern tho, with wearing a pad and underwear i dont know if i would get much pleasure out of it because it would cover everything up and i wouldn’t be able to feel much. is there anything i can do to help with that?

You could try seeing if there's a position or way of moving that allows you to put some additional pressure on your genitals, but this may also be one of those instances where you'll be weighing whether an increase in potential mess is worth it for more intense sensation, of if you want to prioritize quick clean-up.
