Cheating

Unread post by cool-person-22 »

Hi. I'm not in a relationship, but I am worried that when I get into one, I will be cheated on. Is this a normal feeling to have about relationships? Why do I feel this way?

Hi there! What about it worries you?

It can happen that we are dating someone and agree to be monogamous but they end up sleeping with someone else. It can be pretty upsetting when it happens, but most of the time there's nothing we can do about it, because these are another person's actions.

We can try to make it easier to communicate within the relationship, including making it easier to talk about what might be making us unhappy or not feeling like we can be monogamous, or stay together anymore. Having those sorts of conversations early can help you avoid some of the situations that lead to cheating, but in the end we can't control everything. Which is probably a good thing!
