What is a “mild soap”? (for toy cleaning)

Unread post by spoken9644 »

I know the instructions for the toy I bought say to wash it with mild soap and warm water, but it doesn’t clarify exactly what is a mild soap. Is dish soap a mild soap? Is hand soap a mild soap? Do I need to buy a special soap specifically for the toy, or can I (preferably) just use a soap I already have in my house instead?

Hi! So generally "mild soap" means fragrance-free, no harsh chemicals. Dish soap is often pretty harsh and not recommended, same with scented hand soaps, but if you have a soap with natural ingredients that can work! It honestly depends where you're using it, because for vaginal insertion you want to be a lot more careful, but if it's for anal use then you can just use a fragrance-free or castile soap. They do make soap specifically to clean toys, usually it's a spray, you can buy it online. I'd still always suggest reading the ingredients of those too just to be safe.
