Bleeding after having sex for the first time

Unread post by bethanyatkubi »

Hello!
So as of 30/9 it has been 2 days since i lost my virginity and i am slightly worried as I am still bleeding, it started as not a lot when we did it but i defo still bled (later on that day it did get slightly worse) , but on the 29th its wasnt as bad however as of this morning its quite alot like a period amount which it could be but considering that I've been on birth control and haven't had it since april I dont know how likely this is. (Is it possible that having sex could have kick started it?) I am thinking its possible i have experienced tearing as I have no previous experience and it was rough as we did it twice so is it possible I could have damaged my vagina or lining? What should I do as I can't really tell my parents or go to the doctors unless it persists? Any help would be greatful, thank you in advance :) . (also I accidently misclicked the wrong year I am actually 16)

Hi there Bethanyatkubi, and welcome to the boards (and thank you for clarifying your real age, that is helpful) :)

So, bleeding after sex typically happens when there’s not enough lube used, when you’re not aroused or if you’re feeling uncomfortable nervous, and when the partner rushes into genital entry without easing into things with other sexual activities first. The prolonged, increased bleeding could potentially be a withdrawal bleed, however if the bleeding continues to increase, or if it’s accompanied by any pain or discomfort, it may be best to check in with a doctor. Do you feel comfortable with talking to your parents or going to the doctor, or would you like some help with that process?

It is very possible that it was nervousness or dryness as I was just overall nervous that something would go wrong. Still, unfortunately, I cannot go to my parents or doctors as they would probably never let me leave the house again but if it seriously persists I guess I will have to figure that one out.
Thank you :)

No worries! I’m glad you’re able to post here for help. For the nervousness and dryness, it may help to go slow, maybe exploring non-insertive sex before inserting anything, and using extra lube. You can read more about that, and more things to consider with painful sex, here: From Ow To Wow! Demystifying Painful Intercourse
