possible yeast infection?

woah, two posts in 24 hours!
this is a long one.

the other day i was having a feel around for my cervix and found a "lump". cue immediate freakout and booking an appointment at the sexual health clinic.

so i was there, terrified i had some terrible thing wrong with me. the lump? yep, that was my cervix. i was feeling my cervix. i agreed to try a speculum exam, providing they found me a tiny one as i have problems with a thick hymen, insertion and pain. the speculum was actually a positive experience, nowhere near the evil i was told they were.

doctor said:
- i have a healthy looking cervix
- the inside of my vagina is looking a bit red and there's lumpy discharge.

i have no symptoms relating to a yeast infection. no itching, no burning except on insertion, no pain. i did have some cloudy and very thin discharge the other morning, i have recently (in the past month) been treated for a UTI and there was a smell that i had with the UTI this morning before i showered. i also feel pressure/pain in the pelvic area similar to a UTI.

i am honestly so confused. the swab won't be back for a week which doesn't bode well with my city break on monday :( all the stuff i see on yeast infections says about itching and burning. i cannot find a match for my symptoms.

what the hell is my body up to?

hey itsxafx!

Glad to hear you were able to see a doctor about this! It sounds to me like there may be some lingering effects of the UTI. What kind of treatment did you receive for it? Likely your body is still on the healing process and that is what you are feeling.

Sometimes our bodies take longer to heal, or suffer flareups after we think we're finished healing. Unless the pain and discharge continue or worsen, I think your best bet is to wait for the swab results and proceed accordingly.

How does that sound?

i had a three day course of (prescribed) antibiotics. i did feel kind of better before taking them, but i saw the course through either way.

my symptoms went away since, but have come back now.

i probably will just wait it out and drink lots of water. i don't want to buy over the counter antibiotics for something i don't have - antibiotic resistance would be a disaster!

I agree - if it doesn't go away or gets worse, it's best to go back to the doctor's and have it checked out rather than getting yourself on over the counter meds!
