Pregnancy scare

Unread post by LilMissS »

So my boyfriend and I got intimate and i went naked. He wore a condom and our genitals never touched each other. However he stimulated me down there with his hands and am worried if there’s a possibility of pregnancy this way because he went to wear a condom and his hand might have had some traces (my assumption and not sure).

Is there a possibility of pregnancy this way wherein he touched me down there and used the restroom to wear a condom right before that

Hi there LilMissS,

There's no risk of pregnancy from what you've described here. Manual sex poses no risk of pregnancy even if there's pre-ejaculate on someone's hands. Have you taken a look at this article yet? You're Not Pregnant. Why Do You Think You Are?

I understand that anxiety has come up because of this situation. I see that this is something you've come to us about before. Do you have any coping techniques you use when you're feeling anxious?

Thank you. I was scared because i think i am having a delayed ovulation this cycle and am about on day 26, and adding to that, this increased my concern.

Hey there LilMissS,

I hear you that the worry about delayed ovulation increased your worry about pregnancy. It can certainly be scary when you’re expecting ovulation on a certain date and it’s late. Some hopefully relieving news on this: Ovulation doesn’t always happen at the same day each cycle. This goes for the day your period starts too; it can vary by a few days without truly being “late” yet! Ovulation can also happen on different days of the cycle, and is in general a bit tricky to track. And, while for some folks ovulation might be more noticeable, for a lot of folks it’s a bit harder to identify exactly when ovulation happens. For those reasons, we tend not to focus too much on the date of ovulation. All that to say, it’s okay if ovulation happened later! Too, if you’re concerned about pregnancy, taking a test is always a good way to settle the concern. :)

Thank you, this is reassuring!

Also, just to be sure - if my boyfriend had washed his hands and dried them with a towel post after he wore the condom, and then stimulated me externally (i was naked down there), the risk remains near to impossible in this scenario, right?

Thank you!

I had a very bad flu and was sick for the entire week before which i would normally anticipate my ovulation and was under medication as well.

Could this have thrown off my ovulation for the month? Is there a correlation?

Hi LilMissS,

Yes, since you were really sick, that could have delayed ovulation and changed your usual cycle. Don't worry, it would be back to normal in a month or so.
