how screwed am i?

Unread post by itsxafx »

so my health service has totally dropped the ball.

i noticed it had been a while since i had my depo injection about two weeks ago, so i called my clinic and asked when my next appointment was. last time i was there, the nurse who gave me the injection told me she’d booked my next appointment as always and i would get a confirmation text. no text came, and i was of course confused but figured there was a glitch. anyway, the clinic said they’d find out and call me the next day. no call came, so i went to the walk in session on wednesday.

there i find out i had the injection last in OCTOBER and was now 14 weeks since the last one. so i answered all the questions and got berated for not using condoms, refused the pill because of my weight and even talked back into the injection! she also told me that no appointment had been booked because apparently they don’t do that here so the entire thing is my fault.

so yeah, during this 2 weeks where i had no idea i wasn’t safe, i’ve been having unprotected sex. it’s too early for me to test yet, i’m super annoyed about the entire experience and on top of that i may still be pregnant.

Hi itsxafx,

I'm really sorry to hear about your health service's unprofessional behavior! That is NOT okay and I'm sure it's incredibly frustrating to deal with.

I won't lie; with unprotected PiV sex, there is a definite risk of pregnancy. I want to refer you to this article (Pregnancy Scare Resources), which is full of information that may help you with any questions you may have. We can't estimate exactly how 'screwed' you are, but if you have any specific questions we will try our best to answer them and provide you with resources.

I also want to mention that some pregnancy tests (non-digital, pink dye) can show positive results for pregnancy as early as 8-10 days. The lines are faint, but if it would help with your anxiety it is an option.
