Do tampons take away your virginity?

I know this is a stupid question but I just wanted to ask, because a few weeks ago I asked my mom if I could try using a tampons for the first time and she said "no, tampons take away your virginity and it tears a certain muscle. And it hurts really bad the first time." Ive watched a few videos and researched if tampons did and found out that the muscle thing (sorry i forgot what the muscle is called) can be torn by anything and you'd still be virgin. Is this true or not?

Hi Xx_Peanut_xX,

No question is stupid here. Thank you for asking!

I think it is great that you have decided to stay curious and do some of your own research on the topic. Another good place for you to look would be on an article here about the Hymen (that "muscle thing" you're referencing) My Corona: The Hymen & the Myths That Surround It

As for your question on tampons and virginity, it is important to know that there is no way to 'check' if someone is a virgin or not. Instead we as individuals decide what that term means for us (or if we want to use it at all)! Have you ever thought about what virginity means to you besides what you might have heard other people say about it?
We have another great article here that goes into more detail about this very topic! How could I check if I am still a virgin?

As for pain associated with tampon use, sometimes people can experience varying levels of pain and discomfort with tampons. What is important to note is that one's sexual experience is rarely related. Listening to your body while taking things slow and relaxed are great places to start.
