hello i am oh
call me whatever you wish
I am objectum. I am romantically and sexually attracted to objects. I am attracted to people as well, but I’ll be focusing on objects
Most objectum related stuff is hate. I get it, it’s a weird sexuality and stuff. But there’s so much hate about it to the point I worry about getting harrased. I still feel shame about it, despite knowing it’s harmless to me as long as I don’t go too far.
How do I like deal with this and accept it?

Hello and welcome to the boards, Oh!
I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling ashamed, and that these feelings come from hearing how other people talk about being objectum! I really can see no reason to hate something that doesn't hurt anyone--we can definitely chat about how you might get to a more accepting place about this.
To start: If you know there are people who will react poorly to learning about this interest, it makes sense to limit who you share it with. The problem with this approach, though it can be safer, is that it lends itself to a sense of shame. If that is true for you, would it help think about this in a different way? You are not keeping a secret because you have something to hide (you don't), you are selectively sharing your interests with people who are trustworthy on your terms.
Being in spaces full of harassment and negativity would make it difficult for anyone to feel good about themselves. I'm not too familiar with objectum communities--would it be possible to limit how much you see hate/find more positive discussions? If you're seeing this online, have you looked into moving to a different social media platform or using moderation tools to hide negative posts?
despite knowing it’s harmless to me as long as I don’t go too far.
If I may ask, what does it mean to you to go too far?

Thank you for replying!!
By going “too far”, I mean solely relying on objects for all relationships which causes isolation. As long as they co-exist with human relationships, I should be fine.
Thank you for the advice… I have alot of good support systems so far, but I think finding a community would be nice. I’ll keep searching, and if I can’t find anything, I’ll stick to being my true self safely.
Again thank you so much! I’m not used to kindness when discussing this, so this was a nice change of pace. If I have any updates, I will share!

An approach that recognizes your need for different kinds of relationships to prevent isolation sounds balanced and sensible. I agree, you should be fine.
And you're welcome! We'd be happy to hear updates, or to answer any more questions that you have in the future.
