Body hair causing body image issues

I just turned nineteen recently and have started sugar waxing to try to remedy my issues with body hair. (AMAB, btw) I feel like waxing never works for me and shaving is just annoying. I have been considering getting laser hair removal but I’m worried about pricing and pain levels. Moreso because of autism. I have no clue what to do about all this

Hi Gravity!
I’m sorry that this has made you feel confused! While we can’t give advice on body hair removal, we can certainly talk about the feelings you’re having around body hair. How does that sound?
I also want to start by sending this article we have on our site about body image and body hair:

My issue with body hair is it makes me feel too masculine. I do t like it at all. It also is really uncomfy if it gets too long.

Hi there, Gravity
Though we don't like to tell people what changes they should make with things like body hair, we definitely understand how it can cause negative feelings like dysphoria. If removing or reducing body hair is gender-affirming for you, and will make you feel more comfortable with yourself, then that is something worth considering.
You mentioned that you were worried about pain during laser hair removal--I do want to note that you can speak to a clinician about reducing pain and distracting yourself during sessions. they might offer to cool your skin, use numbing cream, or work in shorter, lower intensity sessions, among other things.
