Hey everyone! I plan on buying a dildo soon, I’m around 16 Male and I would like to know on what I should get when buying one and how I clean and take care of it? I know I can take about at max an inch in girth and im thinking of getting a tentacle one. I’m not a really sure how much different these are from regular ones in cleaning and useing. Is there different ways I have to clean them or take care of them compared to a regular one? Or should I not get a tentacle one for my first and just get a regular one. My budget is around 30-40$ Canadian (I’m
Not 100% sure if that’s enough though) and I have too look on Amazon or AliExpress. If anyone knows any good ones that they could recommend to me that would be amazing.

Hi Laxer, welcome to the boards! :)

While every dildo (and any kind of sex toy, really) is different, generally you want to make sure that they are made from materials that are safe for the body, like medical-grade silicone. Depending on the material, they can be waterproof or not; if they're waterproof, you can wash them with warm water and fragrance-free soap. If they're not waterproof, a washcloth can do the job. Aside from materials, you also want to look up the reviews and the toy manufacturer--what are people saying about them?

I think getting a tentacle-shaped or a regular-shaped dildo is ultimately your choice. But it'll be a good idea to consider not just your budget for the toy (and lube!) but also your sexual experience with the toys, solo or partnered. You've mentioned the maximum diameter of a dildo you are comfortable using--how would a tentacle dildo play into that? Which size(s) would be the best fit? Additionally, if this is applicable, how do you feel about textured insertive sex toys (dildo or not) so far, since tentacle dildos may have certain textures?

We have a series on sex toys, and while an article on dildos is under way, you might find them helpful when it comes to taking care of sex toys in general: How to Play with Toys. Hopefully these can help, and we're always open to more questions!
