So for starters, can I ask what do you mean by "stop the urges"? Do you mean you don't want to like/have a crush on this person anymore? Why is that?

I appreciate that you don't want to upset your friend, but I'm curious why you fear this would be upsetting. If your friend wasn't interested in men and you told him about your feelings, that should not be something that offends him--your feelings can't harm him, after all. If he has to reject you (and he might not want to), it should be the same as rejecting a girl that he isn't interested in romantically.

Can you tell us more about your relationship with this friend? Have you ever had the chance to talk about relationships and sexuality with him? Has he ever expressed support for gay people?
