I had unprotected sex 3 days ago with my partner. He didn't finish, but I know that he leaks a lot which means that he might've leaked a bit while he was in me. I asked him afterwards when was the last time he had ejaculated along with if he peed after that and he said that he did so the day before, but he hadn't masturbated the day of our encounter + he peed a couple times that day already so I wasn't worried as much. My period was said to be scheduled to start the day after we had sex according to Flo (I'm a new user so apologies! I usually just use a regular calendar or the Apple Tracker but ever since I've been sexually active I've been recommended to use Flo by my friends.)

However, my Flo app now says that I'm late? I know I'm usually irregular, like, SEVERELY irregular, my cycles can range from 23 days to 50 days but I always get my period every month (maybe not around the same time as the previous month, though). Ever since I've seen my partner too I've masturbated and I'm spotting (it's brown) so I'm also a bit nervous that that is implantation bleeding. I'm trying not to be nervous and I've been doing a really good job at keeping myself relatively calm but right now I'm a bit scared since I've had (traumatizing) experiences with an ex when it came to sexual interactions and I'm scared of such an instance happening again.

I know that it was my partner and I's fault for having unprotected sex (I honestly assumed it was fine because I know that precum could carry sperm, but he peed beforehand but let me know if I'm wrong...) I just wanted to know a bit more about my body and also if the spotting I'm having is my period incoming or implantation bleeding. Thank you very much!

Welcome to the boards, FruitySoup. There's a lot to say when it comes to any of these apps, but Flo in particular has a bad history of not keeping user's data private. I would strongly advise deleting that app and either going back to your analog way of doing it or using one of the apps who has a good track record when it comes to user privacy, at the very least, and keeps your data on your phone, rather than somewhere else. Euki is a tracking and reproductive health app that is excellent about this, and its team from the start included people who work in abortion, which is a group of people who tend to be really dedicated when it comes to both privacy AND only making claims an app can do things well it actually can.

That all said, any of these apps should not be telling you you're late when you are too irregular for them to even have a pattern to work with. That's a good sign an app is trying to do something it can't and probably isn't very useful.

Implantation bleeding not only is very rare, it can't happen before implantation can happen, and that can't ever happen inside three days. It typically takes between a couple days to as long as a week to get to fertilization, and about another week to week and a half to get to implantation. The spotting you are having is likely either your period starting or bleeding from a vaginal abrasion, something likely if you're not using lube or enough lube, being too quick to move to intercourse, being too rough, or just having a lot of vaginal sex in one session.

You're right, pregnancy from pre-ejaculate alone is a lot more unlikely than pregnancy with a full ejaculation, and yes, urinating beforehand will usually flush any trace sperm (which are also the least likely sperm to create a pregnancy in the first place, since they're the slowest stragglers). But since it has only been three days, if you'd feel better protecting yourself, I want to make sure you know it isn't too late to use emergency contraception. While it works best the soonest it's taken, it can still be effective up to five days after a risk. I also want to make sure that you know STI risks also will be possible with unprotected sex, so if you and your partner haven't been STI tested recently or ever, I'd be sure you both arrange that for a few weeks to about a month from now too, if possible. <3
