Everytime my period comes around a day or two before my period starts I feel incredibly irritated and stressed to the point where I breakdown and I have suicidal thoughts. Or I just think about bad things happening to me .It's probably just mood swings but how do you deal with it. Is it supposed to be that bad where you're just feel defeated.

Hi coffeebeans. It's true that many people experience heightened negative emotions on the days leading to their period--which is part of what we know as pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS). But if you consistently feel depressed and have suicidal thoughts during those times, it might be helpful to seek mental health support, as that can be a sign of pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). You can read about it here:
Your PMDD Primer: A Necessary Guide to an Under Researched Disorder
As you might have noticed in our user guidelines, we cannot provide mental health help here but we can help you seek local resources. Does that sound good to you?

Do you have a general doctor that you see, coffeebeans? If so, they absolutely can help evaluate you for PMDD -- which, given how you have been feeling, is a strong possibility -- and either then refer you to a psychiatrist or OB/GYN, whichever they deem fit for you, or get you started themselves with some help from a medication to help treat menstrual cycle-related depression and suicidality. <3
