Is this a normal period on birth control?

Unread post by elainabeee »

Hello everyone!
So I've been taking Microgestin Fe 1/20 since August now. I've never missed a pill, and the most I've ever been late by is an hour or two, and that doesn't happen frequently. I always have sex with a condom, even though I have the added protection of the pill.
My periods on the pill are typically about four days of medium-heavy bleeding, but this month, I only bled for two days! I had the usual cramping, headache, and amount of blood; it wasn't spotting or anything like that.
Is it normal for my period to last only two days on the pill, if the bleeding is fairly heavy?
Thank you!!

Even on the pill, bleeding won't always be regular and you can expect to see some variation from time to time. So, what you describe does not sound like anything to worry about.

Okay, so I shouldn't be concerned about a potential pregnancy? Does having a withdrawal bleed (or bleeding resembling, but not exactly the same as a withdrawal bleed) indicate that I wouldn't be pregnant?

Yes, a withdrawal bleed indicates that you are not pregnant. But if it would make you feel better, you can always double-check with a pregnancy test.
