Chances of an STI?
Hi, I recently went to the doctors to get a repeat prescription for the pill and because I am.using the pill.she asked me to take.a.Chlamydia test, even when I haven't had penis in vagina intercourse, I agreed to it as I thought I might as well see what it's like and have had unprotected oral so thought I should check.
This is the bit I was wondering, I have only ever been with my current bf and have only done sexual things with him and no one else. He has told me that he has never done anything sexual, and by sexual I mean oral etc with anyone else before and both of us have never had I penisin vagina sex. So I was wondering,if two people.are in a relationship and have only done sexual things with eachother and none else-so manual, oral, then what is the likelihood that they could have an STI?? Just to add, we are both in a committed relationship and have been for nine months. Thankyou

Hi Berry,
I think this response to a similar question does a good job of explaining the risk:

Thankyou, I read through and am a bit confused, it says unlikely they would have an STI then says however some are.transmitted through non sexual contact? if that's true then surely no one.is 100% safe from STIs

Re: Chances of an STI?
Not sure if there is anything a person can be 100% safe from, but of course there are ways to reduce risk. But as the article said, that if a person had one of the STIs mentioned, even without having sexual contact, they would likely know of it.
If you are looking for more info on specific STIs you can find it here: http://www.scarleteen.com/article/sexua ... iffs_notes

Re: Chances of an STI?
Some STI's ,like oral herpes (HSV1), can be transmitted without a sexual contact. That's why the article says that you can get some STI's even when you are not sexually active. Also, STI's can be transmitted through pregnancy if the mother has any.
Does that make better sense to you?

Yeah I knew that would be the result because of things mentioned above and the fact my current partner has been my only partner my whole.life and my partner has never done anything sexual.except.kissing with lips.with others
