Why is it that when you are on birth control for a while you stop getting your period?

Hi loveyoruxx,

That depends on the type of birth control your using. Was there one in particular you were wondering about? For instance, even on the pill you still get a withdrawl bleed once a month.
And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow/with smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go/turn to and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain/and like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.

Okay, so the pill is the particular method of birth control you're asking about, then.

Missing periods over many cycles isn't actually common with oral contraceptive users. It can happen, but if you haven't had any periods in three or more cycles, it's always a good idea to check that with your healthcare provider to be sure that IS about a pill side effect for you, or is okay if it's not, and that it's not about a health issue you need to address.
