We can't really know why he came when he did. Bodies can be unpredictable, and if you're fairly new to sex you might not have the best sense of what signs mean you're about to ejaculate or what sensations make it more likely that you're going to. Too, it takes a lot of practice and awareness of ones body for someone to learn how to control their ejaculation, so it can happen before someone wants or expects it to.
