Birth Control Issue

So I have a quick question I was just wondering about-

I was away from home (the USA) for a year and I had thought I had enough of my birth control packets for the whole year (I've been on birth control for quite a few years). It turns out that I was one pack short, and I ended up having to wait less than a week to see the doctor and get a new pack, but I had to start immediately after getting them, which means I moved from starting on a Sunday to starting on a Wednesday. I'm just wondering if this is likely to make my period late (along with the fact that I've been very stressed) and give any side effects, and if you could give any other advice? Thanks.

Hi trillecat1,

We can't say for certain if this will have any effect on your withdrawl bleed, as plenty of factors can affect when they arrive.

Just to clarify, were there any days where you weren't taking the pill at all (normal pills or placebo pills)?

Yes, since I ran out of my medicine, I have just checked and I miscalculated. There was around a week and a half where I was not taking any birth control.

(Normal pills, I believe?)

Okay, thanks. If you choose to be sexually active you'll want to back up with a second form of birth control until the end of this current pack, since having that big a gap can compromise the effectiveness of the pill.

Does it matter that I moved my starting day? It was originally Sunday and now it is Wednesday.

(Also, I am on the sugar pills, the last pills in this pack.)

No, that should not effect how well the pill works.
