Confused about possible risk

Unread post by cweyogi93 »

Hi everyone,

This is lengthy so I apologize for that. Anyway, at the beginning of August, I went to California and didn't want to have my period. I skipped my period by just starting a new pack on birth control pills. I've done this before and had some breakthrough bleeding, and it doesn't bother me that much. I got back from vacation and started spotting a week after I got home. I've now been spotting for maybe a week and a half.

There were some days where it was a lot, enough to where I had to wear a pantyliner. Other days, barely any. During that time, I had sex and we did not use a condom. He neglected to tell me that he finished inside me until after he was done. I take my birth control every day around the same time at night and have never missed a pill. My question is, am I still protected against pregnancy even though I've had spotting for more than a few days? I have never had any issues with the pill and guys have finished inside me many times before. I'm supposed to get my 'period' this week, probably Thursday.

Am I being paranoid? Any guidance/suggestions are more than welcome. And yes, I am fully aware that not using a condom was really stupid.

Thank you in advance!

Hi cweyogi,

Your birth control should still be as effective as it has ever been (as you say, adding condoms would all but eliminate risk of pregnancy).

Using it in ways that isn't recommended on the box however would be something to discuss with your doctor as I can imagine it could cause other disruption to your cycles.
