What will happen? What should I do?

If it doesn't seem to fit anywhere else, this is probably the place for it.

What will happen? What should I do?

Unread post by Ashley.IDK »

I might soon go to the doctors for a check up. I recently started having sex with my boyfriend. I dont want my mom to know or my dad just yet. I definitely dont want my doctors to tell them. I live in Texas is there some kind of law about personal space or like doctor confidentiality (I'm 14). I dont really want to here "oh you should tell them they should know, its important" i understand its just im not ready yet.

Your doctor is not allowed to communicate anything to your parents without your permission. (The exception to that is if your doctor has reason to believe that you are being abused, in which case they have to report it.) Whether or not your doctor encourages you to talk to your mom and dad isn't really something we can predict: is this doctor someone you've seen before?

There's a confidentiality between the patient and the doctor. Doctor is not allowed to divulge information unless ordered by the law. So you don't have to worry about it. But if your situation badly needs your parents guidance, then don't be afraid to tell them.

Best of luck,

Hi shanice, can you please make a new thread in order to ask this question?
