Switching to Mini Pill from Combined Pill.
Switching to Mini Pill from Combined Pill.
Hi, I recently changed from the combined pill to the mini pill. I used to take the 21 days then a break type of combined pill. I left one pill left in the packed and then moved onto the mini pill. I have been taking the mini pill for four days and had unprotected sex. Will i still of been protected against pregnancy as there was no gap between pills? Or did I need to finish the last pill, I did this just to try and stop me having a period, but now I'm worried I needed to take all 21 combined pills before switching.

Since there was no lapse in coverage when changing pills, you don't have any reduced effectiveness to worry about. There would be an issue if you had taken a longer break from taking any pills than you usually do, but jumping from one pack to the next without that break, even after taking only 20 pills of your old kind and not 21, is fine.
