Why is my period absent?

Unread post by TooWorry »

Hi, so I'm worrying because my period is three days late. The last time I had sex was in July though & me & my boyfriend always use condoms. My last period was August 1st-5th & my last month's period came a week late. This time, my period is there whole days late so far. I don't feel it coming either. I just started my first year as a college freshman & I'm a science major so college has been pretty hectic for me already. Plus, I'm in a new environment, a whole different state, & almost five hours away from home. Do you think that my period is missing due to stress from school & the new environment I'm in & do you think this is something I should really be concerned about especially since this is the second period in a row that has came late? I'm normally quite normal & I don't know why my period is acting weird all of a sudden. Thanks!

Hi there TooWorry,

We have an article that talks about some common reasons for late or missed periods here: M.I.A or, Dude, Where's My Period? Ultimately, it's hard to know exactly what's making your period later than expected, but as you can see from that link there are several different factors that might be coming into play here. Too, it's good to keep in mind that sometimes bodies just do things that are a bit unexpected! Bodies don't run like clockwork, after all.

Also, what method are you using to predict the date of your next period? Some period-tracking apps are pretty rigid in their predictions about when periods will arrive and we've found that they can cause a lot of anxiety in folks with less regular cycles.
