Did I do my pregnancy test correctly?

Unread post by Lucy5443 »

Hi :) it's the first time I've ever done a pregnancy test and I just wanted to make sure I did it correctly.

I did followed all the instructions, peed in a cup, put the test inside for 10 seconds. Then placed the closed the test and waited 5 min. But the test was really inexpensive..So I can't help but wonder...

I had protected sex November 1. And did a pregnancy test November 12. My period should come tomorrow(but I don't feel like it's going to come)

The test came negative.

The package said I could do it a week after the day I had sex.. Should I believe it? I also made the test around noon (the package said I could do it anytime). I think my pee was very concentrated though.

I plan on taking another test in two days in case my period doesn't come.

Am I doing things right?

You said you have followed all the directions of your test. That means you did it right.

In the meantime, it seems like we're pretty solidly in pregnancy scare territory here, so please remember the following:

We will not answer ANY questions about pregnancy fear or anxiety in our direct services from users who are not pregnant or who are not or have not otherwise been directly involved with an actual pregnancy.

Please do not post this kind of question. If you are seeing this text, it is because you have posted this kind of question.

We CAN and WILL talk about things like:
• choosing and using a method or methods of contraception for any future sexual activity
• creating your own sexual limits and boundaries based on your needs and/or presenting them to any partners
• making sexual choices that suit your own needs, abilities and limitations, including your own readiness for certain possible risks
• help locating or using emergency contraception if and when you have had a pregnancy risk
• discussing options with a real, existing pregnancy, and help finding and accessing those options, such as abortion services and pre-natal care, or discussing feelings or concerns about a past pregnancy
• help with anxiety like locating mental health services, sound self-help or asking for support from friends or family

For help dealing with a scare (including what poses a risk and your next steps based on your unique situation), you may use our tool on site built for this purpose: The Pregnancy Panic Companion.
