ill be starting birth control soon, what should i expect? what is it like? will it make me sick? eat before i take it? what happens if i miss a day?

When you say birth control, are you talking about the pill? Really, everyone reacts differently to hormonal birth control: some people have no side effects, others have things like nausea or cramps. If you're using the pill, then reading the leaflet that comes with your pills will have answers to all of these questions, and you can always phone the doctor who prescribed it for you as well.
