She was a dear friend that helped me get through a lot, and temporarily convinced my grandmother to let me dress in feminine clothes. But, she moved and hasn't been in contact in quite along time.

It definitely sucks to lose contact with a friend, especially if they were someone who helped you through some difficult stuff. Do you still have any contact information for her? Maybe you could send her an email or text and just say hi.

Other than some social media, I don't have much contact info.

Social media isn't necessarily a bad way to reach out and reconnect with someone you've lost touch with. It can be pretty great for that, actually, because it's quite informal a lot of the time: an easy way to drop someone a line and just say "hi, I know we haven't spoken for a while but I was just thinking about you and wondering how you are!" or something similar.
