Sex during a period can result in pregnancy, although it is less likely than at other times during the menstrual cycle. In order for pregnancy to happen, it's not just sperm that are needed: there has to be an egg there to fertilize in the first place, which doesn't happen during a period (but which can happen shortly after a period stops). So, if someone has sex during their period, AND enough viable sperm remain in the uterus and fallopian tubes until after that period is over, AND then ovulation happens very soon after that, then pregnancy would be possible, but it's unlikely for all of those things to happen.

Does that make sense?
