Questions about sperm

Okay... I'm sure this has been talked about a lot before but I was wondering if;
1) does wiping semen off ones hand with a towel kill the sperm

2) is this a risky behavior if you then finger your partner

3) I know that once it's dried, all the sperm is dead, but would wiping of off ones hand dry it out right away if the hand appears dry?
Sorry if it sounded stupid, but I was wondering, thanks for your time!

i dont think it would kill off all of the sperm, ive heard that sperm can live up to a few days so i suggest washing your hand with the sperm on it before it gets into unwanted places

Thinking about this in terms of "killing" sperm, and whether it's alive or dead, tends to make it more difficult to get to the heart of what you're actually wanting to know here. It's usually better to start with what conditions are needed for reproduction to be possible, and the ways that reproduction can and can't happen. We have a number of pieces on our main site that'll help fill you in with a lot of this.
Human Reproduction: A Seafarer's Guide
Who's Afraid of Sperm Cells?

To see what risks do and don't exist from different kinds of sexual activity:
Can I Get Pregnant, or Get or Pass On an STI From That?

And indeed, days-old sperm cells can't do anything! Zip, nada, nothing. People tend to hear a lot of different things about reproduction and sexuality, but there's a lot of mis-information out there, so it's important to check and get this information only from reliable sources.

Thank you! I wanted to just double check. I'm in a humansexuality class at my collage and couldent find that spesificly in my textbook. What you guys do is super important, providing correct information to people who don't have it. ( sorry I used the term " finger" couldent think of a more correct term.) Have a super great day!

Whatever words that people know or are comfortable with using to describe their own life are fine with us! We'll tend to use more of the scientific-type terms ourselves because that's a better fit for our role as educators, but there's certainly no requirement for our users :)

You're very welcome!
