reusable pads

Hi,

I'm thinking about making the switch from disposable pads and tampons to the reusuable ones. However I am full of questions and was wondering if any of you have experience with them?!

Are they as comfortable as they say?
How do you care for them if out and about?
Are they easy to wash?
Are they really leak free?
The initial outlay seems expensive but as these will last a while I guess it's worth the switch?
Are they better for skin compared to disposable ones?

Sorry for the questions, I'm interested to find out the info before I make the purchase.

Thanks :)

Hey there, Tigger. :)

I don't know who "they" is, but I think it's safe to assume that when people are speaking to how comfortable they find them, they're being truthful about their experiences.

This piece has a lot of info about washable pads: Eight Myths About Washable Menstrual Pads Dispelled.

And Lunapads, a longtime "alt" menstrual products/org we've worked with for a long time, has great information over at their site. This is probably your best place to start with some of these questions: http://lunapads.com/learn

Hey,

I looked into the links you sent through :)

I went ahead and got some of the pads online, I had a gyne op on Monday and decided that I'd use them following this as I knew I'd have some bleeding and I have to say that although I've only been using the reusables for a few days, they are awesome! The ones I have are super funky in design, they are so simple to use and to care for, much easier than I'd imagined tbh. The little extra time spent on them is totally worth it. I love how comfortable they are compared to disposable pads. :)
