Re: Help
When people have cold sores, a tingling feeling can be a sign of an oncoming sore. However, we can't know if that's what's happening with you right now. If you do get any sort of open sore on your lips soon, it's probably a good idea to have a doctor check it out.

Re: Help
Ive never had a cold sore before and i havent been in close contact with anyone with a sore. Also wouldnt one have shown up by now if thats what this was? Is there anything else that could be causing it?

Re: Help
Like I said, it could be something else. We really can't speak to what this could be; I just mentioned that since it's something we know about that fits that symptom. If you're concerned your best bet is to see a doctor as they would know what other causes to investigate.

Re: Help
Ok thanks. Also do you know in general how long it would take a cold sore to form after that tingling feeling is experienced?

Re: Help
Usually within a couple of days. Again, though, there's no way to know for sure what this is - it could be a cold sore starting or something else entirely. As Mo said, if you're concerned, your best bet is to see a doctor.

Re: Help
If the tingling continues and is causing you discomfort, or if it increases in its intensity, those would be good times to check in with a doctor. Of course, if it's worrying you, you can schedule and appointment right now.
