My friend recently got pregnant and she brought up a question that I've been curious about for years.

What exactly happens to ejaculate and sperm when a woman is already pregnant? Is it advisable NOT to have penetrative sex while carrying a foetus? I've never been pregnant, but I've heard that pregnancy can cause horny levels to shoot sky-high... and I'm not sure I'd be happy to have to resist them hormones while pregnant! xD

What happens is the exact same thing that happens to almost all of the ejaculate when a woman is not pregnant: it drips out of the vagina some time after intercourse.

If all is well and the pregnancy is progressing as normal, penetrative sex during a pregnancy is usually just fine.

So then ejaculate and sperm is not dangerous or anything like that to the baby? That's good to know, thanks :D

Nope, the fetus is protected by amniotic fluid and the muscles in the uterus, so sex won't harm it :)
And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow/with smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go/turn to and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain/and like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.
