Mirena and Antibiotics
I have the Mirena IUD and am taking an antibiotic daily long-term. I know antibiotics can make the pill less effective, is this true for Mirena as well?

Re: Mirena and Antibiotics
HI there Reelgirl,
Antibiotics don't usually lower effectiveness with IUDs, but if you're feeling concerned about medication interactions (now or any other time), you can always double check with the person who prescribed them! It's their job to make sure they know what you're taking and whether or not it will cause interactions/complications. The thin papery leaflet that usually comes in the box of medication usually has that kind of info as well, and is really helpful in understanding exactly what the medication is and how it should be used.
